How often does my furnace/ac need to be serviced?

Each unit should be serviced annually to maintain a good working and well-functioning system.

How often should my ductwork be cleaned?

We recommend ducts be cleaned every 3-5 years to keep your air clean and moving freely, especially if you have house pets.

What are the benefits of a high-efficiency furnace & air conditioner?

Benefits of high-efficiency are largely the energy savings, but also include heat & cool comfort, and quietness of the equipment.

Should I get a WIFI Thermostat?

Wifi enabled thermostats give peace-of-mind with the ability to check and change the temperature of your home at any time from most any place. They can also provide service alerts and filter change reminders. They are great for second homeowners.

Do I need a humidifier?

Humidifiers offer many benefits for your home and personal health. It decreases the likelihood of catching colds and the flu. It can prevent dry skin, nose bleeds, scratchy throats and infections. It can save your hardwood floors, drywall and paint from warping and cracking.

How often should my filter be changed?

The air quality of the home and filter size will be a determining factor as to how often a filter should be changed. We recommend that 1" filters be changed every 1-3 months and media 5" filters should be changed every 6 to 12 months based on the air quality, pet dander and smoke within the home.

Can you give me an estimate to repair my furnace or A/C?

We are unable to speculate what the problem might be and therefore are unable to give estimates over the phone. Our highly trained service technician will come to the home & inspect the furnace and/or ac, perform a diagnostic and offer a quote for repairs. Our diagnostic fee will be waived or credited upon acceptance of the repair quote.

Where should I set my thermostat if I am going to be away for a long period of time?

It is recommended by the manufacturers to set your thermostat no lower than 55°. These recommendations are for the benefit of the equipment to maintain a good working condition and function properly when called on to perform.

What payment methods do you accept?

We accept cash, checks, all major credit cards, and special payment options. Payments are due at time of service and our skilled technicians are able to accept these forms of payment before leaving the job site. You can speak with the technician or simply call our office for details.

Do you give free estimates for new furnace/AC systems?

Yes; there is no charge for McGhee’s to come to your home and put together a proposal for a furnace and/or air conditioner replacement. Call our office to schedule an appointment and inquire about our special payment options.
